Final Details for Opera - May 8, 2008

Opera Details (Summary of Previous Information and New Information)

The children are fantastic on stage, and you will be so proud when you see them perform.  I’m looking forward to seeing you at one (or both) of the performances!   Here’s a summary of previous information and some new information regarding the Opera.

  • Please have children get ample sleep and be well rested for Friday and Saturday.
On both Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10:
  • All children will report to their classrooms by 5:00 p.m. (except choir members who report to Mrs. Koshi)
  • Children should be dressed in board shorts or surf shorts, a t-shirt, and slippers
  • Girls should have their hair in a ponytail.
  • In the classroom the children will receive their costume bag and change their t-shirts into the official program t-shirt provided by the school and their capes or other costuming.
  • Children will place the t-shirt they wore to school in their costume bag (with their name on it).
  • The teacher will walk the students down to Scudder Hall for warm-up. The children will bring their costume bag with them.
  • Upon completion of the opera, the children will return to Scudder, where they will change back into their own t-shirts (girls will change in the kitchen area), neatly fold their performance t-shirt and cape or other costuming, and replace it in their costume bag.

Pick-up after performances:
  • Children will be dismissed from Scudder Hall (the middle school/high school dining room) after they change and parents have signed them out with the teacher.
  • Choir members check in and check out with Mrs. Koshi.
  • If parents are not attending a performance, plan to pick up your child from Scudder at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Where to sit for best view of your child:
  • Our class is performing on the left side of the gym when facing the stage.  The children will be on stage the entire performance, and I suggest sitting on the bleachers on the left side of the gym for the best viewing.  There are four sections of bleachers, and the middle two sections would be the ideal spot (see diagram on the paper that was sent home with your child today).
Thank You
Thank you to Karen Mento for teaching our class about Boy's Day on May 5 and treating us to yummy mochi and rice crackers.  It's been a week of birthday celebrations!  Thank you to AW for the delicious birthday cake to celebrate his 8th birthday.  Thank you to MM for the refreshing Jamba Juice and warm malasadas to celebrate his 8th birthday.
