We are off and running!

Welcome to the first edition of my online newsletter. Thank you so much to all those parents who attended our Open House on Wednesday night. I really enjoyed reconnecting with the second grade parents and meeting all of the first grade parents. Your children are off to a great start. I anticipate a wonderful school year for all of us.

Our first graders experienced a bit of nervousness this morning as they prepared to take their very first spelling test. One boy got cold feet and said to me, “I’m not sure if I know all the words.” I quickly reassured him, and we began our test. At the end of the test, the same boy put his two victory hands in the air and declared, “I DID IT!” He sure did, and our entire class achieved their first sense of a community accomplishment. They will all get a chocolate Kiss from me.

Today was also our first field trip of the year. We went to Tenney Theater to see Snow White. Honolulu Theatre for Youth always does such a great job of bringing stories to life. Be sure to ask your child what they enjoyed about the play.
