Building a Cooperative Community!

Dear Parents,

The first two weeks of school have been devoted to learning classroom routines and rules, becoming a cooperative community, and doing some exciting projects. Your children continue to amaze me with their keen interest in life and learning. We have completed our mini-Inquiry project on the Titanic and have created a bulletin board display. Some of the children even created models of that "unsinkable" ship. We learned Morse Code and appreciated your willingness to learn it, too! The children were particularly excited today when I started reading Tonight on the Titanic, from the Magic Tree House series. We will begin our Inquiry on Prehistoric Times next week. They are already reading dinosaur books and identifying fossils.

Everyone enjoyed drawing pictures about Hawaii and writing a letter to my granddaughter in Seattle this week. She is in a K - 2 multiage class, and we are hoping her classmates will want to be pen pals with us. We have also been working with partners to make and extend patterns in math, reading great books at Quiet Reading, and working on our face paintings, which we will have ready for you to see at Open House next week. Yes, we've been busy, and we all agree that learning is so much fun!
