Dear Parents,
Your children are excited about our Halloween Spooktivity, which will be held on October 31st. This afternoon, several parents are coming in to help the children make Halloween decorations for the Dining Room. I want to thank Mrs. Cutter, our Room Parent, for organizing the event and all the parents who volunteered to come and have fun with our class. We love having you here!
Halloween Reminders
The children may wear their costumes to school on Halloween, or they may change into them after lunch. If the costume will inhibit them in the classroom or on the playground, please ask them to change after lunch. Parents who plan to attend Spooktivity will be in our room to help with costumes.
Our Halloween costume parade will begin at 12:45. We will return to the Elementary campus at about 1:15 to hear a great storyteller and watch young magicians perform. At 1:40 the children will trick-or-treat at spooky storefronts created by the 'Ohana parents and have snacks. By 2:00 we will be back in the classroom.
Mrs. Hussey has requested that parents do not send class treat bags. There will be lots of goodies for the children that afternoon. If you have made them already, consider donating them to homeless children or a senior center.
Mahalos
Our parents continue to be very generous with their time and donations. Special thanks go out to both of the Mrs. Hayashis for their donations of great books and tapes for our library. The children are already excitedly reading them!
Mrs. Yoshida has given the children and me a wonderful gift of her time. She is here every morning to help check the children for ukus. The time saved has meant we can do more of the amazing things we do in our classroom. When you see her, please extend your aloha, too.
Mrs. Montes has given us a gift that will inspire your children to share their writing and favorite books. It is a beautiful, yellow “Author’s Chair,” hand-painted by Mrs. Montes.
I also want to thank Mrs. Antunes for her dedication to your children. She comes in to read to them almost every Monday. The children are enthralled by her storytelling and always comment on her use of expression and gestures. What they learn from her shows up in their descriptive writing and enthusiastic oral presentations and dramatizations.
Thank you to the parents who have signed up to come in and help the class with their Inquiry research. Your assistance is invaluable to us. I could still use help on the following dates: Tuesday, 10/24, Wednesday, 11/1, Thursday, 11/2, and Friday, 11/3. I may also need help the week of 11/6. I’ll let you know. Just call if you can assist. Mahalo!
Your children continue to do wonderful, exciting things in this classroom. It is truly a place where curiosity is celebrated, innovation is appreciated, and children love to learn. The sky’s the limit!
Mahalo for all you continue to do to support their learning!
