Dear Parents of Wonderful, Curious, Extraordinary Magic Stone Kids,
This will be my last letter to you this year. It really has been an incredible year of learning and playing together!
Fly Up Day
We all realized how much we will miss our 2nd Graders when they left us yesterday to visit a 3rd Grade classroom. They came back so excited and full of fascinating information about all the things they will be doing and studying next year. The 1st Graders and I had a great half hour with eight adorable kindergartners. The 1st Graders proudly showed the Kinders our room, explained our plant experiments, talked about what we do in 1st and 2nd Grade, read with them, taught them how to sing “Flea Fly,” and even had time to dance!
Mrs. Montes and the Philippines
We had our last, very interesting presentation for our Geography Inquiry on Tuesday when Mrs. Montes came in to tell us about the Philippines. The children learned fascinating things about that country and its culture, looked at artifacts, tried on festival clothes from Mindanao, and tasted yummy Filipino foods. She also told us about the place Jacob, his sister, Emily, and Mr. Montes are from in the Philippines. We all enjoyed learning with Mrs. Montes very much. A big thank you to her and to all the parents who have shared and helped out this year!
Paddy Day
I’m sure you heard all about Paddy Day and the wonderful time the children had petting him, as well as playing in the park, having a picnic, and celebrating summer birthdays. They voted to stay in the park and play an extra half hour instead of returning to the classroom for their Spelling Bee. Are we surprised? It turned out to be a very fun class party!
Book Projects
The Book Projects were outstanding this time!!!! We have been amazed by the creativity and quality of the visual aids and the careful preparation for the presentations. Mahalo, parents, for all your help with these!
Summer Writing
If you look among the things your children brought home on Wednesday, you will find their class writing journals, which have now become their “Summer Writing Journals.” The 1st Graders are asked to write in their journals this summer at least twice a week and to bring them back in August to share with the new students in our class and me. The 2nd Graders are also encouraged to write in their journals and share them with me in August.
Please check the MPI Photo Gallery for pictures of our last two of weeks of learning.
Have an adventurous, exciting, fun summer!
Ms. Revard
