Spelling News

After much contemplation about how to improve the spelling work that we have been seeing (or not seeing), we decided to adjust our spelling routine a little. In the mornings, after the students have finished their morning work, they will work on their spelling. As they finish their “Making Connections,” they will show it to us so we can give them immediate feedback on their work. By the end of the first week, Fridays, they should have at least four “Making Connections” done. If not, they will work on them during activity time. By Friday of the next week, they should have all their “Making Connections” done, so that all they need to do over the weekend is study their words for their test on Monday. What this means for you is that you shouldn’t have to worry about spelling at home, except to check how they did on their Buddy Checks and Tests and sign their books on Mondays.
