Exploring our Earth's Layers

Because of the S.A.T. test, we will be having a different kind of homework this week. Your child should still read and record each day, but their only other assignment will be "Exploring the Earth's Layers." You can find the assignment sheet in our homework section. Your child has an information sheet on the layers of the earth, which they started to read and highlight in class. They should finish reading and highlighting this resource. Everything that they need to know is included in that resource, but they are welcome to use other resources as well. Check out this one: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/nature/9903/earth.layers/frameset.exclude.html When they have all the information that they need, they will create a model of the Earth that includes the Earth's four layers. We asked them to be creative and think of a memorable way to show the layers of the earth. If they need some inspiration, check out Ms. Holzman's gallery for some examples. We also told them that the description of each layer may be included in the model or on a separate sheet of paper. If you have any questions, please let us know.
