Conferences

We have been working very hard on our portfolios. Students have been reflecting on what they’ve learned and what they still need to work on. They have been picking out pieces of work that show how they have grown. Your child will share their portfolios with you at conference time. Conferences will be Thursday, May 24, and Friday, May 25. If you need to reschedule your conference time, please let me know as soon as possible.

In addition to portfolios, we have also been finishing up our other big projects. On our Big Island trip, each inquiry group was in charge of making tasks for many of the places that we visited. When we returned from the trip, each of the students reported their findings to the group in charge. Each group was given a bulletin board in the classroom to share the information that their classmates reported to them. The Ocean group is making a Mokupapapa Discovery Center bulletin board. The Space group is making an Imiloa bulletin board. Weather and Nature are making a Volcano National Park bulletin board, and the Recycling group is making two bulletin boards: Akaka Falls and KMC. After much planning and organizing of information, the groups are finally able to put their bulletin boards together. They already look great and will be ready to be unveiled when you come in for conferences.

Simultaneously, the inquiry groups have also been working on their inquiry research. Currently we are deciding on the best way to share our discoveries with you. We are planning on sharing sometime during that last week of school. I will let you know details as we get closer. Busy, busy, busy.
