The Hawaiian Stars are very excited about going to the Bishop Museum this morning. We will engage in some interesting activities to teach them more about volcanoes with the "Kupuna Atoll" activity and the "Science on Your Palm" activity. We will also see the planetarium show "Explorers of Mauna Kea." Thank you to everyone for preparing a home lunch for your child to eat at the Bishop Museum. My husband will accompany us as the chaperone for our class since no parents were able to volunteer. We will be in three mixed groups of students from the four classes for these activities, and we should have a great time exploring the Science Adventure Center, too.
The Ho'olaule'a tomorrow promises to be an exciting time for the Hawaiian Stars. We will leave our classroom at 11:30 AM to purchase lunches, and then we'll head to the central court area for lunch. After lunch we will proceed to the various games to have some fun. There will also be booths which are selling various things, and we'll visit them, too. We'll return to the classroom by 1:50 PM to end the Ho'olaule'a experience. Many thanks to our parent chaperones, who will help to supervise the children as they enjoy the Ho'olaule'a. Mrs. Cindy Kaita, Mrs. Allison Sawada, and Mrs. Kathie Yamashiro have agreed to serve as chaperones. If anyone else can help, please come to join us at the Ho'olaule'a.
Spring Break will begin on Monday for two weeks. The Hawaiian Stars should all be working on finishing their Wordly Wise books and corrections. I will expect all of the books to be turned in for checking when we return from Spring Break.
The next independent project is a book report which is due for presentation on April 9, 2007. I'm sure these final projects about books will be the most creative and very interesting. The Hawaiian Stars have grown so much in confidence as presenters.
Their research projects about the Big Island trip are being worked on using the Keynote slide show program and should be read in late April for sharing. You will be notified when they are ready.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Spring Break! For the first week, my grandson Blake from Maui is coming to stay with us. Then the following week my husband and I will go to Las Vegas to spend some time with his two sisters and their husbands who live there. I'm looking forward to some fun and relaxation before we begin the final nine weeks of this school year!
