Manoa Mountains News for January 17, 2008

The Manoa Mountains prepared well for their Math Adventure presentations and did a great job on Monday. We had many creative posters that used lots of color and pictures to support their speeches. The speeches were carefully memorized, and everyone spoke clearly. The majority earned five stars and were very proud of their work. Many thanks to all of the parents and grandparents who attended the presentations. The students really enjoy having a special audience.

Camp Erdman provided our Manoa Mountains with many interesting and exciting experiences to help them learn about environmental issues and do some hands-on science investigations. The Group Challenge was great for team-building and everyone enjoyed the Olympic relays. Every group was a winner!

The Manoa Mountains were very responsible campers and tried very hard to participate in all of the activities with enthusiasm and interest. They learned a lot and had a wonderful time with all the other third and fourth graders. The camp staff is an international mix from many different countries around the world. Our students were attentive and well-behaved, and they were complimented for their good attention and focus.

Campfire was a fun time for singing and dancing with many silly songs that were enjoyed by everyone. It helped everyone to end the evening on a high note, and they were eager to get ready for bed after that. The food at camp has been improved by the new cook, and it was tasty and most enjoyable. Mr. Yamashiro bought everyone delicious treats from a bakery in Waialua to go with our breakfast. Many thanks to all of the volunteer chaperones, who helped to keep our students safe and happy while at camp!

Now that we have returned to school, it's time to continue with our work. We will have a jump rope demonstration team at our assembly today, and it should be fun to see their tricks. We will all participate in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser next month.
