Hawaiiana and SAT Testing

As I'm sure you have heard from your child by now, our class is diligently working on their Big Island/Hawaiiana presentations. They are having so much fun with it! Each group has chosen a way to present their information to the class. They started with their notebook of questions, sorted and organized the answers, and came up with a step-by-step plan for carrying out the specific tasks involved. Some groups are using their CD pictures for a PowerPoint presentation, while another group has come up with the idea of having an interactive game show with the class. One group is even making a movie! All groups also have assessment tools that they will be using to be sure everyone is learning the material. The creatvity, cooperation, and motivation I have seen go beyond all expectations. We are all looking forward to a fun presentation day!

Be sure to check our photo gallery soon for the "process pictures" and presentations.

SAT Testing:
Beginning Monday, April 23rd, the fourth graders will have a week of standardized testing. Please be sure that your child gets enough sleep and eats a hearty breakfast before coming to school. It is also important that they arrive on time as some of the tests will be administered first thing in the morning. Encourage your child to do their best, but also assure them that there is no pressure to achieve a certain score. The fourth graders have been taking practice tests for months now, so I'm sure they are very comfortable with the format. The test scores will be mailed to you sometime during the summer. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
