Happy New Year, and Welcome Back!
Hope everyone had a nice holiday season and is rejuvenated for 2008!
Most of you opted for your child's portfolio to go home after the break. Hopefully, you have had the time to go through it and comment to your son or daughter on their work. Please send the portfolios back to school before this Friday,1/11/08, as we need to begin working on them!
This week in class, we have focused more on spelling in their writing. We did a mini-lesson on consonant blends (sounds that come together in a word) since most children were still spelling words like "squeak" and "scrap" incorrectly. They have since gotten better with the letters that spell the beginning sounds, but every once in a while go back to spelling a word "phonetically" (as it sounds). Please help reinforce this spelling rule at home if you see your child using it incorrectly.
