Spelling List #12
Vowel Pair: “ie”
Most of the time the vowel pair “ie” says long /e/ like in “piece.”

However, right after the letter “c,” the vowel pair’s letters are changed to “ei,” as in “receive.”

*Think “i” before “e” except after “c” and when sounding like “a,” as in “neighbor” or “weigh.”
