It's getting close to the end of the school year....

Only three weeks of school left! I can hardly believe that this school year is already coming to a close. Thanks to everyone who came out to our wonderful May Day program last Friday. Our students worked very hard practicing their hula and making their lei. Check out the gallery for pictures from May Day. We have been very busy since then, and we are still looking forward to some very busy weeks ahead of us. Here's what we've been up to this week:

In math, we have been learning about fractions and geometry. Early this week, we read the story Sir Cumference and the First Round Table. This story taught us about characteristics of different shapes. We have also been using the SmartBoard to learn about equivalent fractions. We will continue with our study of fractions and geometry until the end of the school year.

This week we finished reading our literature circle books. Next week our groups will present their book to the class.

In Hawaiian Studies, we are finishing up our inquiry projects. In their inquiry groups about our changing island, each group is creating a hypothesis about their inquiry question. They are then designing experiments or activities that help support their hypothesis. Later on, we will share our projects with our class and have other classes come in to see our work.

With all of this, we are also busy preparing for conferences by reflecting on our work over this past year and finishing up our portfolios.

We'll be working hard right up until the end of the school year! Check back next week!
