Opera reminders and a Star Poet
Kahalaopuna, the Princess of Manoa, has arrived! The opera is finally here! Our students had an amazing dress rehearsal today, as well as a preview performance for middle school and high school students. They are more than ready to show their stuff off tomorrow! Here are some last minute reminders for tomorrow and Saturday:
- All children will report to their classrooms by 5:00 pm.
- Students should be dressed in board shorts or surf shorts, t-shirts, and slippers. *If students are staying for after school care on Friday, they should just bring these items with them to school.
-
Girls should have their hair in a ponytail.
-
In the classroom the children will receive their costume bag. They will
change their t-shirts into the official program t-shirt provided by the
school and their capes or other costuming. They will place the t-shirt
they wore to school in their costume bag (with their name on it). T-shirts will go home with the student after the Saturday performance.
-
The teacher will walk the students down to Scudder Hall for warm-up. The children will bring their costume bag with them.
-
Children will be dismissed from Scudder Hall after they change. Parents must sign out their children with Mrs. Lorenzana.
- If parents are not coming to a performance, please plan to pick up your child from Scudder at the following times:
Friday 7:30 p.m.
Saturday 7:00 p.m.
- Our class will be performing facing the right side of the gym. When you enter and are facing the main stage, you may want to sit on the bleachers to the right for the best view of our class. The middle sections are ideal!
Please contact Mrs. Lorenzana with any other questions or concerns about the opera. We are looking forward to seeing our families at the performances!
We also have an exciting announcement to make! A few months ago, we entered some of our poems in the Star Poets contest. We are happy to announce that KM is a Star Poet! Her poem,
My Shoe, was chosen as one of the top five poems in the third-grade division. Congratulations, KMl!
