In Full Swing

In science, most of the students have finished their first draft and are making revisions to their final published paper. The students have enjoyed using their creative skills to design and build their Planet Inquiry Project posters. They are using a variety of resources, from the Internet to National Geographic magazines.  As the posters come together, the students have been sharing the cool facts they have learned about the planets they have been researching. When the final report and poster are complete, we will be sharing our research with the class and parents.

In math, the students have been working with decimals, fractions, and percentages.  They enjoy converting their test scores into percentages to judge how they are doing.  We are presently focusing on decimal addition, subtraction, rounding, and estimations.  When the students are learning a new concept, the first few quizzes are always the most challenging.  As we correct our mistakes, we learn how to recognize areas of difficulty so we can focus on practicing and getting help in these areas.  We continue to build on past knowledge with a fun game of "Show what you know."

The field trip to the Academy of Arts was a pleasurable and educational experience.  The students got to see firsthand how people in the 1800s lived and the hardships they had to endure just to have the basic neccessities needed to survive.
