Inquiry: Human Body

Our first inquiry unit in Kindergarten is the human body.  We began the unit by learning about ourselves and each other with our All About Me Boxes.  We have been exploring the human body by reading books, looking at skeletal structures, and drawing pictures. The students have been asking what the organs feel like and if they smell!

"What do you know about the human body?"

M.H.:  "Your feet help you run."

S.S.:  "Your lungs help you breathe."

T.K.:  "Your bones help you move your hands."

K.O.:  "Your mouth helps you talk."

C.H.:  "On your bottom, there is a tail bone."

B.W.:  "Bones are in our body.  Everybody has bones."

C.L.:  "Bones make you stand up."

L.B.:  "Your eyes help you see."

T.M.:  "You can talk with your mouth."

S.D.:  "In your body there is this black strip.  If you want to move your finger, the black strip tells your brain and then the brain sends a message down the black strip to move your finger."

Z.J.:  "Your legs help you stand up."

K.Y.:  "Your brain makes you smart."

K.P.:  "Your spine helps you stand up."

T.P.T.:  "Your brain makes you think."

K.S.T.:  "Your nose helps you smell."

B.M.:  "Your blood makes you have tummy aches."

M.F.:  "Your bones help you move."
