One would think the highlight of the week would be Halloween, but in our classroom there was a lot of collaboration going on!
On Monday, the children worked in groups of four to carve their pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns. They took turns drawing different features and scooping out the guts. Thank you to Miyoko (LY), Sabrina (GA), Tracey (BM), Karen (TK), and Linda (CH) for coming to help carve pumpkins.

Tuesday was exciting. Our children's favorites of the day were "the boxes (maze)" and trick-or-treating. We were pleased that the experience was more important to them than the goodies they received! All the hard work of our families to make this day special really paid off. Thank you for your time, as well as the treats and goodies! Special thanks to T, Valerie, Linda, Jill, Rick, Kazuko, and Tracey for creating our "houses". Thanks to the Chais for donating pumpkins for both preschool classes! Thanks to Linda and Colleen for the yummy treats. And finally, thanks to all the families who came to help celebrate with us! ![]()

We were all a little sluggish on Wednesday, but the interactions that the children had were priceless. They worked together while creating with clay, folding fabric at cleanup time, and painting a thank-you card for our fire station visit.

For Halloween, TK's family brought in a fog machine for an added treat. Little did we know that it would inspire some children to formulate ideas about our rainbow inquiry. CL noticed that "beams" were shooting out of the "diamond." On Thursday, we printed out photos of the "beams," showed them to the class, and asked the children how the rainbows were coming out of the "diamonds." CL said that "God is pulling them out of the diamond." And our inquiry goes on....

On Friday, SK, EC, BW, EKS, and KO were creating collages when EC made an interesting "crown." Some of the girls watched silently and copied her. BW couldn't figure out how to make it and asked Ms. Laura to teach her. Ms. Laura asked EC to show BW. Children as teachers, children learning from each other, teachers learning from children -- can our job get any better???![]()
Just a final reminder: Friday, November 10th, is a holiday. Three quick weeks until Thanksgiving!
