Three quick days but oh! so productive!

Amazing learning occurs every day. We are sometimes just too busy to catch those special moments. This week, knowing that the children were so excited about the holiday, we decided to take it easy. Look at all the wonderful moments we captured this week.

Ms. Iris brought in a bag of mixed nuts with the shells on. We left them on the sign-in table with fresh cranberries. GA noticed that his favorite nut, the almond, was in the bunch. He and BH started sorting the basket, then GA counted the almonds. We have 28 of them.

MF and RB shared the book Look! Look! Look!, by Tana Hoban. They started looking at things around the classroom through the puka. Ms. Leigh showed them how to make their own paper with a puka. Then they went around the classroom taking pictures to use to make their own book. Come in to see their version of this interesting book.

MF and RB also counted and numbered the rainbows in our classroom; there were 24 of them that day. We'll see how many there are next time.

CL keeps talking about "selling cocoa" when he goes to Buffalo for winter break. He wanted to make a sign to take with him. "We" had a great idea! Why not sell hot cocoa at Mid-Pacific and raise money for the homeless children? A Hot Cocoa Committee has been formed. Members will be notified shortly, as CL has both parents and children on his list!

TR drew a picture of a little vase of flowers. She quickly colored it, too. Ms. Leigh asked her to look at the little details and take her time. Wow! Look at the before and after drawings!

Wednesday was a busy day. We sang a thankful song at our morning assembly.

We made cornbread muffins, butter, and a fruit salad. Everyone helped cut the fruit that families brought in. Our fruit salad had 10 different fruits in it!

We went to the Tech Lab to see a slide show by Ms. Brooks' father, who is a professional photographer. He showed us slides from Arizona where he's from.

Finally, every child wrote a card that simply said "Happy Thanksgiving." The children gave them to the people who work with them, like Ms. Jordan, Ms. Shirley, and Mr. Louie.

Thank you, all, for sharing your children with us. Happy Turkey Day!
