On February 15, the Party Planners continued to work on their plans for Ms. Leigh's 5th birthday party. At this meeting, the group decided to write their invitations. After problem solving and negotiating, the group figured out what they wanted to say on the invitations.
The date and time were not written on the invitations becasue it has not been determined yet. Each group member wrote one line and signed their name on the party invitations.
They then counted how many invitations they would need.
1. Ms. Brooks
2. Mr. Rice
3. Mrs. Hussey
4. Ms. Kazari and class
5. Ms. Iris and class
6. Ms. Jordan
The group agreed that they needed six invitations, then headed to the office to make copies. When the group got to the copy machine, they decided to make ten copies; four will be extra.

Once the Party Planners got back to the classroom with the invitations, they jumped onto the computer to find a picture of a unicorn to put on their goodie bags. Each member took a turn using the keyboard to google the word "unicorn."
After finding the right black and white picture of a unicorn (children will color in the picture at the party), the group took turns using the mouse to make the picture smaller and bigger. They used a sample goodie bag to measure how big the picture should be. Once they found the perfect size, RB and BW used the mouse to click file and then print. BW pointed at the word "print" on the screen and said, "P for print."
After the picture was printed, the group discussed how many goodie bags they would need for the party. They told Ms. Leigh that only children will get goodie bags and that there are seventeen children in Ms. Iris' class. Ms. Leigh asked the group if they knew how many children are in Ms. Kazari's class. The children were unsure about the exact count and decided to go and find out by asking Ms. Kazari. As they asked Ms. Kazari, she handed them a class list and invited them to count the number of names. With Ms. Kazari pointing at the names, the group counted until they reached the number sixteen. To make sure, BW went over to the children's mailboxes and counted those. Again, the number was sixteen. Satisfied with their counting, the group headed back into their own classroom.
Ms. Leigh then asked them how many children would their be if there are seventeen in Ms. Iris' class and sixteen in Ms. Kazari's class. RB tried to count up from seventeen with her fingers, but stopped after all ten fingers were up. She came up with the number twenty-seven.
The other children tried to count, too, but did not quite know how to figure it out. At our next meeting, the group will again work with this problem to find out how many goodie bags they will have to make.
