Peace Quilt - Children Prepare for Dalai Lama's Visit to Maui

IMG_4201.JPG

The fifth and sixth-grade classes have come together to take part in creating a peace mural that will hang in the stadium on Maui as the Dalai Lama spreads his message of peace. Ms. Shirley Rivera, one of our Character/Christian Education teachers in the elementary school, organized the project with several middle school teachers,

After engaging in a meditation practice of calming the mind, the children used Hawaiian phrases, Japanese kanji, drawn symbols, and written prayers on pieces of fabric to represent their messages of peace. More information and a description of this project coming soon. Thanks for checking in.
