M Club Hosts the 3rd annual Speed & Quickness Clinic

Thanks to the support of the M Club, the Hawaii Speed and Quickness Clinic conducted by Mel DeLaura and Rich Miano will be held at the Mid-Pacific Mills Gym on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30pm - 5pm, from June 2 through July 24. The clinic is open to all Mid-Pacific students currently in grades 6-11 and incoming students entering those grade levels. No reservation needed, just show up and you do not have to attend every session, however, those who have noticed a tremendous improvement.

We ask for a $10 or more one-time donation from participants. The monies collected will be used to donate to a charitable organization that serves children. Two years ago we donated $1,000 to the Nets for Humanity program that provides treated mosquito nets ($10 each) to help protect children in Africa from getting malaria via mosquito bites. Last year we donated $800 to the Pajama Project to provide pajamas and books to needy children. We earmarked our gifts to be given to an agency in Hawaii.

If you have any questions, please call the athletic department at 973-5095 or 973-5094.

Basic requirements to participate include an annual physical exam, parental approval and medical insurance. Among the sports offered are baseball, basketball, softball, golf, bowling, tennis, volleyball, soccer, canoe paddling, kayaking and swimming.

Many find opportunities to excel that they may not find at larger schools. Athletes and coaches alike are frequent recipients of statewide recognition, including Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year honors.

Teams compete in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu at the varsity, junior varsity and intermediate levels. In a few sports such as football, track, water polo, gymnastics and wrestling, Mid-Pacific competes as a member of Pac-Five, a unique arrangement among smaller independent schools to field collaborative teams in order to compete with the larger ILH schools.

Student participation is high, with 55 to 60 percent of our students involved in interscholastic sports. Many find opportunities to excel that they may not find at larger schools.
